Opening Archived Pages Via Generated Index On Firefox For Mac

Hello, all After an update from 49.x to 52.7.3 my Firefox has become picky in the opening of URLs in the address bar upon presssing Enter. For example, if I type ' and press Enter, it works as ex- pected, but if I type ', it ignores Enter so that I am forced raise my right hand off the keyboard, place it on the mouse, and click on the tiny grey right arrow to the right of the address bar that is called 'Go to the address in the location bar', which is rather annoying.

Care to tell us which one was the culprit? (And, like EE, I'm interested in your addition of 'html' above.) The addition of HTML simply means that the index.html or any other default page is loading from the html folder on the server.

It means absolutely nothing for most people. DuckDuck must have a folder called html and the identical default page is also located in that folder that is being loaded. In websites, default pages could be anything specified in the settings - default.html, default.htm, default.php, default.aspx, index.html, index.htm etc etc etc etc. (I didn't mention.cgi but it too can be a default page extension). The bug is in the URI you are typing. Remove the '/html'. Ross First you say you do, and then you don't. And then you say you will, but then won't. You're undecided now, so what're you goin' to do?

For the https version of the URL, strip off the 'html' at the end but keep the trailing backslash (it sometimes speeds up the DNS lookup for a fraction of a second and it doesn't hurt by clearly delimiting the domain token of the URL). It's is likely there is no web page called html subfolder at that site (that is not a filespec in the path token of the URL).

There may be an index.html page and you were incomplete with the file (document) name. The site will specify its own landing page, like index.html. Leave off the subfolder and even a filespec and just use the domain URL. By the way, works in FF 59.0.2. They figure out where to go for their landing page.

You're back on the ESR 52 version, so I'm guessing you have legacy add-ons you want to keep using or this Firefox is running on Windows XP. So that I am forced raise my right hand off the keyboardplace it on the mouse, and click on the tiny grey right arrow to the right of the address bar that is called 'Go to the address in the location bar', which is rather annoying. I do not remember a tiny grey arrow at the right end of the address bar that when hovered upon shows a balloon popup saysing 'Go to the address in the location bar'. Is that actually.inside.

the address bar or is it a toolbar button outside and to the right of the address bar? If the latter, sounds like you installed an add-on and it causes the problem. What happens when you disable all add-ons and reload Firefox or load Firefox in its safe mode (which also disables all add-ons)? PietB 29/4/2018, 14:42 น. Despite the odd url, it works fine in my ESR52, PaleMoon and SeaMonkey. Even adding a / at the end doesn't change that. Things get interesting though when you add /index.html: That triggers it to give search results for 'html'.p WaltS48 30/4/2018, 7:52 น.
